Rep Rugby

Manawatu Under 11 Rugby Reps

I made the Under 11 Manawatu rep rugby team. The trials were really challenging, we played full 80 minute games. I became more and more nervous as the trials went on.

We had our first training on Tuesday. Our coach was a past Turbo, Brian Matenga. We worked on basic skills, like passing tackling and catching.

My Dad sponsors the team so on our jackets will be my Dad’s business logo, Booth Agriculture. I think it will be pretty cool to have my family name on the jackets.

Our first game is on the 20/8. We play different rugby unions, including Wanganui, Taranaki, Hawkes Bay, Horowhenua and Waiarapa Bush.
We have a few away games and home games, we have 5 games in total. The position I play is lock. I like playing lock because it's a fun position and you're in the tight 5. My main jobs are to clean out the rucks and get my head in with the tight 5.

A good mate of mine Van also made the team. He is the Captain and we have been friends for years. He plays hooker and also goes to my school.
